The William E. Ward House, or Ward’s Castle, is the first reinforced concrete building in the United States. Ward worked on the home’s design with friend Robert Mook, wanting to showcase the architectural use of reinforced concrete. The home boasts Gothic Revival architecture and authentic gardens outside. The home was later purchased by cartoonist Mort Walker who showcased the Museum of Cartoon Art inside, attracting up to 75,000 visitors every year.
